Get out and take a walk! Let the clean air off the sea penetrate deep into your lungs and cleanse you. And while, you’re at it, enrich your soul a little bit with some art.
The Art Stroll takes place at galleries and shops around the island from 6 – 10 p.m. on the Second Saturday of each month during the summer. You can meet the artists, working in a wide variety of visual media, listen to live music and enjoy fun for the whole family.
Here are some of the events that took place last month at Second Saturday. You can expect a similar experience throughout the summer.
Cookie Tasting at Poseidon’s Pantry. Participants tasted favorites from award winning Lark Fine Foods.
Painting Demonstration at Island Arts by Jenny Somers.
Create Your Own Mandala at Egret Moon Artworks. Certified Practitioner Marie Caruso-Teresi interpreted participant’s inner selves.
Painting Demonstration at Osprey Nest Gallery by Kevin McBride.
Wearable Art Exhibit at Flying Fish Gallery. Earrings made by Margie Bolean.
Free Italian Wine Tasting at Wine, Cheese & More. No charge for tasting, however donations to the CCA scholarship fund were collected. From 6 – 9 p.m.
Serigraph Art Exhibit at Sundial Books. Serigraph (also known as a silkscreen) artist Erick Sahler was in attendance.
These are just a few of the fun little gatherings around town you can attend. Taste some wine, have a walk on the beach as the sun sets and then catch a bite. Afterwards, cruise the galleries and soak in some art before returning, hopefully, to Miss Molly’s Inn for a great night’s sleep.
Our bed and breakfast has seven guestrooms, making it both charming and private. Since we are on Main Street, we are an easy walk from many of the shops, restaurants and galleries that participate in the Second Saturday Art Stroll. We are a perfect lodging location for your Chincoteague getaway.
